Well, we Canadians could sure use a tax system like that as well. Unfortunately, above all the payroll, license, property and a million other taxes, every time we Canadains buy something here though, we pay goods and services taxes Federally plus provincal sales tax...so it can vary on the province from 11% to 15%. So, the average slob that doesn't have a public sector indexed pension plan, public sector retirement at 55...or union... and doesn't average at least 50% more on average wages than his private sector counterpart...and doesn't have tenure... and can't double double dip within the public sector...can look forward to the day that he is in the public-paid-for nursing home...and wryly wince at the fact that the millionaire in the next bed gets the same food, service and health care that he does. Our tax system does work...sort of, because if you can make it through misery to the nursing home ( with new knees and hips paid for) ... and all you have left is the Gov....you got it made!...even if you were a alcoholic all your life.

Wch reminds me, I wonder why the US doesn't tax beer and alcohol like Canada...by the way, a 24 of Molsons Canadian is over $42... and a 750 ML bottle of average booze is about $27.
