I had a PM IRA with Goldstar Trust Company for several years, with no problems. Their offices are now in Phoenix, I believe. The PMs were stored in a vault at one of the NYC banks (I'm not sure I remember correctly which bank, but I think it was HSBC). If your friend is comfortable with having his/her gold stored there, I recommend Goldstar.
