NEW YORK, March 25 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended gains on Wednesday, sending indexes up more than 2 percent, after data showed a surprise rise in sales of newly built U.S. single-family homes in February.
The surge also followed comments by U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner that he was "quite open" to China's suggestion of moving toward an SDR-linked currency system.
