It looks like Geithner has now recanted but it's a serious mistake and good to know that US officials say one thing but will do another, a real surprise here eh! The US will resist a new world currency but in my view it will happen for sure it's just a matter of when and the US will have no choice as they have totally abrogated their fiscal and monetary rsponsibilities as the reserve currency of the world. The only reason the US has options that others don't is because they can print money others accept and it's the reserve currency, this will be greatly changed and altered in the future but it could take years yet or maybe not. A few failed treasury offers, like the Brits just experienced, and some selling pressure on treasuries in the market can change things fast even if the US does have the biggest military.
