Considering we just witnessed a generational fall last week, it might be worthwhile to view the dynamics in chart form. In the first chart, we see comparative data of the damage. Note that the USD just barely outperformed gold even though the USD received extreme support while gold attracted, as usual, extreme suppression. Unfortunately for the central banks, this charade can only be maintained for a limited period before free market forces hack the USD and propel gold much much higher.
In the second chart below, we see that the current correction in the DOW is the most severe on record.
