New Discovery Resulting in a 20KM Mineralized Gold Belt
Sort of OT by now, but a good chance for bonding....
I'm really very much in favour of increasing Canada's "minimum deductible" - frankly, if a single person makes $20k a year, they shouldn't have to pay tax on any of it because they need every cent. I know, I've been there. I've known people who were there. They're paying HST on everything now, there's no need to tax them any more.
It's also fair to say "they should get a darn college education so they can make more money!", except then the extra wage competition at the college-educated level would just bring down educated people's wages, and also, who's then left to work the counter at Tim Hortons' for $9/hr?
I laugh at Bill Gates for whining that he needs more programming graduates from the US, or else he'll move Microsoft to Bangalore. Frankly, if he paid enough to the ones he had, there'd be a flood of them graduating within 5 years and he'd have no problem. As it is, his real problem is he's competing with everyone else, but not by offering better wages.
Anyway... if anyone's saying "OK then, what's your solution?" Frankly I'm a Green Party supporter. (And the Pirate Party too.) If you tax pollution, you get rid of it; and they're in favour of increasing taxes on pollution while eliminating personal income tax. Believe it or not! (That certainly shocks the hippies when they find out.)
I'd also ditch all the tax breaks the corporations get... or at least equalize it with the personal tax system so that I can also write off meals, Jays tickets and lady companions.
