Deletion of Posts

posted on Jun 01, 2008 07:17PM

As Gamblor77 has noted in a subsequent post over on the KXL forum, the ability is still there to delete the posts of posters who are at the Mail Room or Treasurer level. (But not Vice President or President level).

However, this deletion issue is a serious one and I'm not sure why Agoracom is not addressing it. Gamblor77 asked the rest of us KXL Hub leaders via PM what our thoughts were for the criteria of banning members. Here is a partial cut and paste of my reply...this also addresses that DELETE issue:

------------------------------------...

So, to answer your question for a procedure to ban users, the best I could offer is this: IF Agoracom offered the option for Hub Leaders to MOVE undesired posts to the Off Topic area, this would be the ideal solution. They do not currently allow this. If an offender wants to justify their subject they would then be doing it from the Off Topic area, away from the other discussions. (Perhaps 3 strikes and you're banned). This way, only topical conversations would take place on the main board. Also, legitimate negative posts would no longer be deleted without explanation as they are now. (and hence never seen again as often happens on many boards). Agoracom was supposed to change that DELETE function with their latest release as George told me.

For whatever reason they did not.

Agoracom...can you please explain?
