Developing large acreage positions of unconventional and conventional oil and gas resources
When Falcon started their operations in 2005 they knew for sure that the formations contain an interesting example of simultaneous existance of oil and gas from sandstone reservoirs layering mainly above each other and connecting through the aquifer.Only 1 third of the number of reservoirs give most of the reserves being of determining production importance from about 1000 wells spread all over the region.Thin oil edges and large gas caps could be found just in a few reservoirs. All of the reservoirs have its own individual behavior. In terms of methods the main exploitation method applied for oil production was the water injection.....
Falcon could also learn from the beginning about the existance of huge thermal water formations and that 1 degree of Celsius temperature increase occurs with 14 -22 meter increasing in depth. Therefore they knew about the water problems and the difficulties due to the individual behaviour of each single reservoir and the problems to design fracs successfully.
Due to a lot of well failures, that is even the cause why the DRY WELLS are suitable in almost every cases for high temperature thermal water production, developed around the cities of MAKO,SZEGED and HODMESÖVASARHELY,where the hot water from the depth is used for heating more and more during the last decade.
All what is left in the different formations or remained untouched since 1965 is difficult to exploit or to expensive to lift.
The easy fruits were picked already and the left overs are a big economic risk and still expensive ventures.
As an early investor from the beginning I was tempted to believe in the goods from the depth like MAKO 6 or 7 and misslead by the pressure and the state of the art of the new partners (MOL/XOM) to work miracles. While Falcon tested the depth and failed, remaining the Szolnok more or less untouched,XOM tested the Szolnok and failed, remaining the deeper formations untouched.
Thankfully there is another formation left - The ALGYO - to keep the train going and attract new investors,as it is hard enough for investors to look through such a difficult play, even for those who wanted to be in on it from the very beginning.
I (and the sp) are still disappointed about the results achieved up to date being below market expectations and the primarily focus of majors like MOL and XOM should be to obtain much better results if they decide to go on......
