>Will there still be enough potential in this formation as MOL was sucking out this very formation since 56 years succesfully, facing decline rates since 10 years, even some of their wells had to be abandomed due to declined production rates.
Below is a borehole map from the Hungarian Geological Society, which I have overlayed Falcons licence area. A huge section of the Mako Trough is virtually unexplored, especially the section to the east.
Book Title: M 60: The Petroleum System--From Source to Trap
Article/Chapter: Totkomlos--Szolnok(.) Petroleum System of Southeastern Hungary: Chapter 35: Part VI. Case Studies--Eastern Hemisphere (1994)
As a practical matter, the scale used to define a petroleum system depends on the application. In the case of southeastern Hungary, an understanding of the petroleum system previously defined, in which the Miocene-Pliocene source rock sequence is taken as a single source rock interval containing several organic facies, provides valuable insight into petroleum generation and migration in the province and is of considerable importance in exploration. For example, currently very little exploration has been directed toward stratigraphic traps in basinward, off-structure positions, and our studies indicate a high potential for oil and gas trapped on the flanks of the structural highs bordering the basin.
