There was a very active interest shown by investors for investment opportunities in Hungarian companies, at the New York conference organized by ITD Hungary – said György Rétfalvi CEO of the Hungarian Investment and Trade Development Agency.

“Considering today’s economical climate, this keen interest surprised us to say the least. It does look very promising to raise a substantial amount of investment capital.”
This was the first time ITD Hungary organized a conference in the USA. The meeting in the Chrysler Building Manhattan was presented to investors as an alternative way to invest. Instead of investing in portfolios and government bonds, the investors would invest through risk capital investment in Hungarian small and mid cap production companies.
The Hungarian CEO in his invitation described the spectrum of the Hungarian small and mid cap production companies in the next 5-10 years. “We are committed to attract those investors who continue to believe in the future of the Hungarian small and mid cap companies and would risk their capital for 5-10 years.”
“The feeling I get that most investors are reluctant to invest directly, everyone’s to cautious, and waiting for things to stabilize, even though at a much lower level than prior to the crises. Although, they are avoiding the stock market, investors are still looking for new opportunities, these new opportunities through cash investments offers a partial ownership in these companies for 5-8 years.”
The CEO of ITD Hungary also said; parallel with the conference, he has talked with an investor who is near to establish a Service Centrum in Hungary. In the last 5 years, about 50 European regional or global businesses established their professional services in Hungary.
Amongst these companies are, for example Morgan Stanley and Exxon Mobile. “Despite the world crises, we have not seen any slow down in this regard” said György Rétfalvi.
