EU still waiting for resumption of gas supplies

The European Commission says it is still waiting for a resumption of Russian gas supplies to the EU despite the deal reached between Russia and Ukraine over the weekend.

Russia halted to supplies to Ukraine at the start of this month as part of a price dispute between the two countries.

It subsequently accused Ukraine of siphoning off gas destined for Europe and, as a result, all supplies crossing Ukrainian territory were halted.

The two sides reached a deal over the weekend, but the EC says there was still no gas flowing to the EU this morning.
