Excellon Receives High Grade Results for 30 Drill Holes

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 5, 2008) - Excellon Resources Inc. (TSX:EXN) has received assay results for massive and semi-massive sulphide, and sulphide breccia intercepts from 30 holes in the Platosa Test-mine area. Visual results for 16 of these were reported on April 23, 2008. In addition, visual results for new significant sulphide intercepts, ranging from 0.32 to 7.09 metres (m), are announced for 16 holes from ongoing drilling of the Rodilla, NE-1 and Guadalupe mantos. These intercepts represent sulphide mineralization not included within the NI 43-101 compliant Mineral Resource at Platosa and reinforce the mill construction decision announced in mid-April. See the table and map below for detailed assay and visual results. All thicknesses mentioned in this press release are estimated true thicknesses.

This press release's important points include:

- NE-1 Manto LP468: Cut 8.70 m of semi-massive sulphides grading 481 g/t (14 oz/T) silver, 5.9% lead and 13.6% zinc. This is the thickest intercept from the NE-1 to date;

- NE Rodilla LP528: Cut 5.30 m of massive and semi-massive sulphides and assays are pending. This comes from a new zone 150-200 m northeast of the main Rodilla Manto drilled on NSAMT geophysical anomalies;

- NE Rodilla LP533: Cut two sulphide zones separated by approximately 30 m vertically and assays are pending. The upper zone is 8 m thick and includes four massive sulphide mantos 0.20 to 1.00 m thick with intervening sulphide breccia. The lower includes an upper 4.00 m thick sulphide-rich breccia and a lower 1.00 m thick massive sulphide manto. This area remains open;

- Rodilla Manto LP485: Cut 1.10 m of massive sulphides grading 1,850 g/t (54 oz/T) silver, 14.9% lead and 20.1% zinc. This is one of the highest grade intercepts from Rodilla to date;

- South Central Guadalupe Manto LP542: Cut massive sulphides over 5.90 m in an area between the 6A and mined-out N-1 Mantos. Lesser amounts of sulphides have been cut in four other recent holes in the area; and,

- Though the Company does not believe it is material to its business, it is restating its Mineral Resource estimate after discovering a small portion of mined-out material was inadvertently included in the estimate.

\"We are pleased to outline additional new high-grade sulphide mineralization between and beyond the mantos defined in our recently updated Mineral Resource estimate,\" said Peter A. Crossgrove, Excellon's chairman. \"These new intercepts further demonstrate the continuity of mineralization at Platosa and validate ongoing aggressive follow-up drilling of all sulphide intercepts near the test-mine. Holes like LP533, with multiple mineralized zones and LP542, which may add tonnage close to existing workings are especially exciting as they may point the way towards the large-tonnage, intrusion-related proximal style of mineralization found elsewhere in the Mexican CRD belt, which remains to be discovered on the Company's large property.\"

Twenty-three additional holes, shown but not numbered on the map, drilled in the immediate test-mine area since the April 23, 2008 press release have encountered the favourable host limestone unit, but did not intersect significant sulphides. Also shown are several other holes that did not intersect significant sulphides.

Three drills remain active in the test-mine area and a fourth continues with the regional exploration program at Saltillera, approximately five kilometres to the west. Nine holes have been completed in the Saltillera area in calendar 2008. Promising geology and alteration continue to be intersected. The Company's geological staff believes that results of the induced polarization geophysical survey begun at Saltillera in March, when combined with the results of the 2007 airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey will outline specific areas of potential and further aid drill targeting.

Mineral Resource Estimate Restatement

The company also reports that during a recent review of its Mineral Resource estimate, it discovered that a small portion of mined-out material was inadvertently included in the estimate. While the Company is of the belief that this error is not material to its business, it is nonetheless restating the Mineral Resource estimate as of February 3, 2008, applying the same geological and financial parameters, as follows:

------------------------------------------------------------------ Category     Tonnes (t)     Silver (g/t)     Lead (%)     Zinc (%) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Indicated      396,000              986          9.0         10.1 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Inferred        72,700              742          9.1          9.7 ------------------------------------------------------------------

The Platosa exploration program is supervised by John R. Sullivan, Excellon's vice-president of exploration. Drill core samples are prepared by SGS Minerals Services (SGS) in Durango, Mexico, with silver and gold and in certain cases base metals, assayed in Durango. When required, sample pulps are sent to SGS in Canada and further assaying is carried out at its ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory in Toronto, Ontario.
