I've thought about this, too. Why not sell? The financial aspect is one thing and for me it's a decent amount but there is something that is even more important and that is the matter of principle. There is no doubt in my mind that the events to date are not normal. Many others agree and have voiced their concerns loud and clear. For me, selling means deserting my fellow shareholders and leaving them weaker to fight the good fight themselves. It means I'm not willing to stand up for the things I believe in, like transparency and following the rules and guidlines set forth in free markets. It sends a signal to those companies whom might try this strategy on other minority shareholders that it works. Selling does not sit well with me because of the reason I would be selling for, which is unrelated to the normal reasons like profit taking, stop loss, porfolio redistribution, etc.
I guess I didn't answer your question but if someone asked me why I shouldn't sell that's what I would answer.
