Message: Plugging in: Chrysler goes big with electric hybrid vehicles; minivan test fleet

I believe the reason they are not pushing too hard for more business is that they simply do not have the manufacturing capacity to take on much more business. They are currently in the process of more than tripling their man. capacity but if this truck and minivan do catch on and become popular even this won't be nearly enough capacity to keep up with chryslers needs. If they are also the supplier for the chrysler 300 hybrid they will need to substantially increase their output again. I believe that is why they said in their last conference call that they will not be announcing any new OEM deals in the next 6 months even though they say they were approached by 3 to 4 major OEM's. The fact that they have been on a hiring spree lately would indicate either an expansion of the chrysler relationship or new business. I think they were anticipating a DOE loan would have been approved by now but with Solyndra and Beacon Power going bankrupt and Ener1 in trouble they are very reluctant to approve any more DOE loans. Electrovaya was hoping to build a plant in the U.S. with the DOE money so they may have to do all of the financing for expansion on their own.
