I short stocks and pretty much treat it like my longs except I exercise greater discipline and use technical analysis to a much greater degree (tighter stops).  Also, I avoid shorting a stock that is already heavily shorted -- too much chance of a squeeze.

My favorite short is when a recently broken stock makes it back to just below key resistance and then starts to falter.
