as far as hugo goes, even if he recovers i dont believe he'll survive this politically (but the sob has fooled me before)...the comments in the ven papers are much different than the articles. the ven people are starting to get very PO'd that he went to cuba for surgery (they're not buying the "emergency in cuba" bit). the majority of comments on these health articles seems to be "why did he have to go cuba for treatment? does'nt he trust the cuban doctors here?" or "he preaches about the great strides in medical treatment in venezuela but goes to cuba for surgery" etc etc etc...

one thing that really has me boggled is that there have been MAJOR drug busts, crackdowns on govt corruption and even a story from the VP stating that ven wants to do business with transnationals since he's been gone...could be coincidence but it feels like more than that. maybe the VP (or other faction) has aspirations of his own...

i think if hugo was smart he'd take his billions and retire in cuba. then when the whole ven economy implodes he can say "see, things were running great when i was in power." f'r would probably get re-elected in 2020...
