In order to exert a stricter control in the production, operation and industrialization of the diamond in the country, the National Government will reactivate the plants of Guaniamo and Santa Elena de Uairén, state Bolivar, announced the Minister of the Popular Power of Basic Industries and Mining (Mibam), Rodolfo Sanz.

The civil servant indicated that this he is one of the projects anticipated by Mibam to activate during this year, besides the installation of a complex of production of bauxite, alumina and primary aluminum, with capacity to generate near 750 tons of these products.

He remembered, in the case of the diamond, that Venezuela was on the verge of being sanctioned several years ago by the control absence on the diamond that left towards the outside.

“We will create a system which will allow us to have a more effective control on the part of the State in the market of this important mineral”, it added.

As far as the bauxite complex, alumina and primary aluminum, located in Caicara of the Orinoco and Cabruta in the state Bolivar, said that this plant comprises of the agreements signed with the Federation of Russian and would enter operation the month of December of this year.

Similarly, 2009 are between plans for this year, to advance in development strategic of companies Coniva-Pulpaca (Company Básica de Pulpa and Papel), that will allow to process the pines of Uverito and to transform them into paper, as well as of Serlaca (Service of Aluminum Lamination), for the aluminum production.

“The balance of the past year was positive from the point of view of the strategic course and the control of the deposits of minerals, as well as in the plans of industrialization of the new industries in the sectors iron and steel, auriferous and aluminum, and this year we are going to deepen these strategic lines”, expressed Sanz.
