I'm not sure how many people remember this but back in the 1990's when Jean Chrétien was PM of Canada his government did a bunch of "Trade Missions" to various places. The government basically sponsered a bunch of Canadian businesses and Ministers and business took a trip to various places. There was mich fan-fare as the politicians signed agreements and talked about how close the host country and Canada were. (sound familiar?)
It was a big deal since it showed how much the government stood behind these business doing business outside of the country. It helped establish trade and business ties and help promote Canadian business.
What was in it for Canada? Taxes! Jobs!
Canadian Corps pay Canadian Taxes. Those businesses hire Canadian support companies. The growth of business helps many others in support. It is goodness all around.
Ok...so here we are in 2009. What has our government done?
This is what I mean when I say the Canadian Government must step up and promote Canadian miners in Vz. If China can do it, if Russia can do it... heck if Iran can do it... then Canada MUST do it as well.
I keep on saying this but it must be realized that Canada can be a great partner to Vz simply by looking at how good a partnersip we have with Cuba.
I've not been to Cuba (yet) but I'm told that you find Europeans and Canadian there... (sunburned Canadian...).
Go Canada! Go Kry!
