Regardless of how much rain they get I believe that proper engineering has already addressed that issue. I'm sure that was one of the major considerations from day one, not only with the potential for tailings ponds to overflow, but with any de-watering that might be necessary when digging a gigantic hole (spelled swimming pool) in the ground. My point is....why are we even talking about this? The EIS was done and approved, the taxes and bond was paid. The engineering design has been completed\approved. It's not like they just figured out this is located in the Imataca Forest. Now we're talking about re-engineering two mines into one, surprise problems with excessive rainfall, being given to the Russians, etc. If this has anything to do with a genuine concern for the environment....then it has even more to do with the incompetence and corruption of Minamb. Bottom line....this is all speculation on our part. We apparantly won't get any meaningful information until Hugo makes his decision. In the meantime, I sincerely hope we don't twist in the wind for months and months with no real word on our fate. If we can take our treatment by Minamb as any point of reference, this is not an unlikely scenario.

"...In the southeast on the Guyana plateau rainfall is rather heavier, generally above 1,500mm/60in per year, but with a definite dry season at the time of low sun. Temperatures are moderated by the higher altitude and humidity is rather lower than in the Llanos. The table for Santa Elena is representative of this plateau region."
