We didn't invite them. The Gitxsan Nation and Gitanyow Nation, and Nisga's Nation petitioned the government for inclusion in the environmental application process for Schaft Creek. In August 2012 they were granted an Order under section 13 of the Environmental Assessment Act that amended the Order dated 2010. This covers the territory that is under the roads between Schaft Creek and Highway 37 and Highway 16, and possibly others. This order established a transportation working group with these three FN groups.

As I said, Shane told me it would be a lot of extra work, but essentially not a problem. I am assuming this is what has caused the environmental process to take longer than anticipated since they would have only found out the requirements to fulfill this order a couple of months ago.
