Connacher is a growing exploration, development and production company with a focus on producing bitumen and expanding its in-situ oil sands projects located near Fort McMurray, Alberta
Connacher's debt isn't due for years to come, they have 100 million dollar line of credit and I believe most of their bitumen sales are hedged. The light oil play seems to be going well... Montana should be doing well as I am paying still 1.30 per litre, the same I was paying when oil was over 100. The golden age of refining, I heard this somewhere...
I see this stock being where it is due to macro factors. Eric Nutall's number one pick was westfire energy, he was pumping it at close to 9 bucks, it was the largest holding in his portfolio, it is now trading around 6. Everything in this sector is down, I acknowledge that cll is just a little more than others but maybe that is good thing (as in buying opportunity.) stp was 1.8-1.9, now trading 1.3. su 45 now 29. nvs 1.3 now .88. As far as I can see one of the best canadian energy stocks that any of us could have owned through recent downturn would have been cve 38 now 33.5.
Again I think it is the macro environment that will determine where we go from here, if the markets stabalize then buy buy buy and if they turn volatile run run run (and buy silver).
Personally what my strategy here is that we will see some stabalization in the near future, people are coming home from the holidays and see the market is down and may grab up some discounted stocks. I don't see this lasting too long and I plan on an exit of cll at around 1 dollar, or will get very trigger happy around that point.
On the other board there are a lot of trash talkers saying they are going to buy up in 40's, this will only happen it the whole market goes to sh*t.
Also there seems to be a lot of speculation about a buy out right now, a jv will grow into one... Connacher is Dick's golden goose, it pays him millions of dollars a year. He doesn't own a significant amount of shares so that is not a motivation. With oil prices where they are and the company where it is, he has time... I would love to get a pop to 1.2 then move on to the next thing but I just can't see it happening. What is Dicks motivation to sell? Also he is old, and rich, now he is real man CEO, what will he be in retirement, a rich schmuck...
and bladerunner, what is his deal, for years he trash talks this stock. He has been chasing away investors for sooo long. If people are smart about their investment they do some financial research and in many cases want to know what other people, like themselves, feel about the particular stock, so they google forums, and what do they find when they do this with cll, douchebag bladerunner, well obviously they are going to think twice and obviously he will not make his money back this way, which leads me to believe there is a malicious contradictory plot. Everyone makes fun of him and calls him names, he is shameless and always comes back. Just one of those freaky weird things that you see every once in a while...
