I read somewhere that part of the reason the Canadian oil stocks weren't doing too well recently was because the Loonie was strengthening. I went here http://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/06/CommodityCurrencies.asp?partner=answers# to research that, but don't understand it.

When they say Oil vs. CAD/USD are they referring to CAD divided by USD, or both CAD and USD performance?

Could somebody explain this in layman's terms?
