"No new refineries have been built since the end of world war (WW II) ".

Why on the earth anyone would want to build or buy the refinery when in North America we have 20% refining overcapacity.

The biggest independent refinery in USA VALERO, in their strategic review advised last year, that they will unload (sell) 1/3 of their capacity and move to Asia where the margins are more manageable.

Some new posters here who are not familiar with the CLL may not know that CLL does not refine their own bitumen and does not use their Natural Gas.

Suggestions that CLL is like a Syncrude, Suncor or Shell which are fully integrated O&G producers may lead to bad investment decisions.

Never the less the suggested idea is very popular on this board and getting a big applause.

Another popular myth on this board is the idea that the CLL was forced by the banks to buy MRC (blaming the banks is way to go).

Just think. Why would the bank give the loan to somebody and forced him to buy refinery in Montana which require the upgrades as high as the original investment is?

Last point on this entertaining but not essential for CLL subject.

Why would OILPEAK fanatics defend the necessity of buying the refinery? What will the refinery refined if we will have the shortage of oil? Any experts on this subjects?
