"Here's one prediction you can make with 100% certainty: As the price of oil and everything else goes through the roof, Greens will be seen as part of the problem. All talk of sustainablity and renewable energy will fly out the window when there's no gas at the pumps, and no food on the shelves."

Right on the money. Also by consolidating agreeemnt in the Assembly (a common front, if you will) a breakaway by the greens once a draft is completed would not only be impotent and fall on deaf ears, but could, in all possibility, be dealt with uniformly and harshly by the majority. As noted above, they will be seen by the public and the Assembly as party of the problem; a hinderence to progress that, because of the strategic plays made to date, could be quashed quickly and effectively.

Meant as a general prediction, but just as applicable to Ecuador, as to any nation that depends on oil, minerals and agriculture to survive, which is to say, all of them.
