Message: WI-LAN vs Micron Technology ... from SRK on SH

Innovative Memory Solutions is suing Micron Technology in Delaware court, filed on Dec 15 for a total of 8 patents.....

Appears that the 8 patents that are being asserted against Micron Technology Inc. were assigned to the Wi-Lan subsidiary IMS Inc. by SanDisk Corp. This is the patent partnership that J$ said that they were very excited about. When SanDisk seeks out little ol Wi-Lan to prosecute infringement of its flash memory IP against Micron (and likely others) then this legitimizes and enhances Wi-Lan's reputation as a go to partner for licensing. This folks is the big leagues. Micron does over $16 billion in revenues annually. J$ won't disclose that SanDisk is their partner...but I just did :-).

RE:Innovative Memory Solutions Inc. v. Micron Technology Inc. (from Egyptian)

this is the release by WI-LAN ad yes Mr Skippen mentioned in the CC and he said that the market didn't react to this important announcement added that it is the most valuable patents in the portfolio.

I wonder why they didn't issue a PR for the litigation.

OTTAWA, CANADA--(Marketwired - July 8, 2014) - Wi-LAN Inc. ("WiLAN" or the "Company") (TSX:WIN)(NASDAQ:WILN) today announced that one of its subsidiaries has entered into an agreement with a global leader in non-volatile memory to acquire a portfolio of related patents used widely in electronic devices. Ownership of the patents has been transferred to a WiLAN subsidiary, which now has the exclusive right to license the acquired patents.

"We are very excited to have entered into an agreement with a global leader in non-volatile memory. We believe this portfolio contains many valuable patents covering various aspects of non-volatile memory and are optimistic that licensing this acquired portfolio will become an important contributor to the growth of our business," said Jim Skippen, President & CEO. "An increasing number of technology companies are selecting WiLAN as their licensing partner. We will continue to grow our base of future revenues by adding patent portfolios in new technology areas and markets."

from the Q2 CC

Late in the second quarter, we entered into an agreement with a global leader in non-volatile memory or flash memory to acquire portfolio of patents. Obviously we're very pleased that another large global corporation has selected Wi-LAN to be their licensing partner of choice. Although we're restricted from saying very much in the press release about this transaction, we believe this deal is extremely significant for Wi-LAN. The flash memory market is a giant multibillion dollar market, and we believe major flash vendors will need and want to license this important portfolio. We already have documented evidence of use of 13 families of patents in this portfolio covering flash memory broadly. Given the pedigree of the patents, the remaining license of the portfolio and considering the size of the flash market, we believe this program has the potential to generate very significant revenues for Wi-LAN.
