Message: Some other WIN info on ltigation from another site
Does anyone else find it worrisome that WIN doesn't appear to be properly informing their analysts, with whom they no doubt speak regularly (and surely dozens of times since the WiFi suit settled in early 2011). Note in particular the reference to the suit against Comcast etc below, directly from Tyler Burns at WIN. I wonder how the below information might impact Paradigm's target. any thoughts?

The cases against Calix appears to have been dismissed in June 2011. However, I do not recall seeing any release as to a settlement, etc. Was Wi-LAN successful? What happened? Is there a press release to which you can point me speaking to the settlement?

[[Tyler Burns]] Calix and WiLAN dismissed (with prejudice) all claims in this case (and the related Declaratory Judgment case initiated first by Calix). Note that the dismissal of the actions involving Calix are not considered material.

The case against Comcast, etc. does not appear to have move forward since 2010. However, other cases with which WIN is involved before the same judge seem to be proceeding? is this unusual? is there a particular reason no defenses have been filed? It's my understanding that there is a limited amount of time in which a party can file a defense. Was this case settled successfully too? Is there a press release to that effect?

[[Tyler Burns]] As a result of license agreements reached with hardware vendors in the first half of 2011, the parties identified in the complaint were not served complaint documentation. As the complaint was not served within 120 days of filing, the complaint is deemed withdrawn by rule (without prejudice).

The case against Aliphcom appears to have been dismissed without prejudice in 2011. I don't recall any announcement that it settled however. What happened? Is there a press release to which you can direct me?

[[Tyler Burns]] Aliphcom and other defendants were dismissed due to the settlement that WiLAN reached with CSR plc, a Bluetooth chipset provider. A litigation update with the February 28, 2011 order is available on our WWW site. In a related matter, the Declaratory Judgment action filed by Aliphcom against WiLAN has also been dismissed.
