VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 25, 2008) - Western Potash Corp. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:WPX)(FRANKFURT:AHE) is pleased to announce that it has received results from its first four potash exploration wells drilled within the Russell-Miniota exploration permit in Manitoba. These Permits cover over 1,000 square kilometers, are adjacent to BHP Billiton's Potash Lease and Agrium's Exploration Permits along the Manitoba border, and lie within 13km of Saskatchewan Potash Corp.'s Rocanville Potash Mine. Three of the four holes drilled intercepted the Esterhazy member, the potash formation being exploited at the nearby Rocanville mine. All drill intercepts noted in this release can be considered the true thickness of the mineralization, as the salt beds are flat lying and the holes were drilled vertically.

The best results were from the Russell-Miniota-002 well, which returned 17.0 wt% K2O over an interval of 3.0m, including a 2.1m section grading 19.3 wt% K2O. A summary of the results from each hole are shown in Table 1.

The results compare favorably with historic drilling in the area, which intersected potash mineralized zones with grades of up to 20% K2O over 3.7m interpreted from gamma ray logs. Detailed results are listed below in Table 2. The Company is encouraged by these results, as the geological setting and mineralization are consistent with characteristics of other potash deposits in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The Company considers the generally low insoluble content and the minor traces of Carnallite as a positive indication of the quality of the mineralization.

Note: Table 2 reports all K2O assays above 5% cut-off. The MgO% is shown as
an indicator of Carnallite content. The core recovered from this hole was
logged, photographed, split, and sampled at the Company's secure core 
storage facility on the property. All samples were handled in accordance 
with the Company's Chain of Custody procedures. The half-split core samples
from the wells were analyzed at the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC)
Laboratory in Saskatoon. The Laboratory has been certified by the Standards
Council of Canada (SCC) to conform to the requirements of
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 (CAN-P-4E).

The Company is continuing its aggressive exploration plan and has now completed the fifth well in its five well, Phase I exploration program. The fifth hole is located approximately 6km south east of the first hole drilled on the property and targets the Esterhazy Potash Member. The well was drilled vertically and was completed to a depth of 1020m. Coring commenced at a depth of 880m and intersected the Prairie Evaporite Formation at a depth of 891m. The main potash mineralized zone was intersected from 892.2m to 895 m. Samples from this potash intersection have now been collected and have been received at the SRC laboratory in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Continuing Program

The company is expanding its Phase I drill program with five additional wells planned on the southern portion of QP-168, and the recently acquired QP-172 potash permit property holdings. The expanded drill program will target potash sequences identified by the Company's 2008 2D seismic program completed in August, as well as, from extensive historical data acquired by the company in anticipation of the granting of the permit. Historic drilling in the area intersected potash mineralization in three wells, encountering grades and intersections up to 19.4% K2O over 2.94m. Preparations for this continuing drill campaign are well underway, and a budget of 5 Million Dollars for drilling and further geophysical surveys has been approved by the Company's board. A map showing the distribution of the planned wells is presented below in Figure 2 and includes an outline of the extent of the evaporite salt sequence indicated by seismic data. The Company notes that QP 172 and the southern portion of QP 168 make up an area covering over 625 Km2 prospective for potash mineralization stretching 25 kilometers east from the Saskatchewan border.
