After I posted the previous post, Kent phoned and prompted some additional thoughts.

1) The formula for the 40g of YBG per 1000kg of feed was not cited, but came from the Progressive Bioactives study using 250,000 broilers. It is published on their website.

2) I deliberately excluded calculations of the cost of using antibiotics vs. using AgrastimTM, because the major poultry producers are currently ``claiming`` that they are no longer using sub-therapeutic antibiotic growth stimulators.

3) Though the benefits of using AgrastimTM seem obviously cost effective, I did not state the obvious, that though there is currently NO conclusive data stating that Beta glucan is effective in the treatment/prevention of H5N1 avian influenza, the cost benefits of using it as a natural substitute for antibiotics are so great that its effectiveness against H5N1 virus, should field trials prove it to be so, would just be an extra perk.

Best regards,
