Virginia Poultry Show

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Virginia Poultry Show (August 28-29).

Bioagra was an exhibitor at this show.

After the show closed last Tuesday, I enjoyed having dinner with the presenters from Bioagra.

Dr. Sorgente was one of the presenters along with two marketing staff members of Bioagra.

I had the privilege to attend a presentation that Dr. Sorgente gave on Wednesday to scientists in the agricultural industry.  Part of my educational life is in medicine and physiology and I was able to follow most of the presentation and the questions/answers that followed.

Dr. Sorgente was awesome.  He was able to captivate all of us and speak to the depth of the scientific profession.  He addressed the way beta 1,3/1,6D glucan bonded to the receptor sites of macrophages and neutrophils and the mechanics of this bonding.  He addressed the Complement which is 20 proteins that are in our blood and how beta 1,3/1,6D glucan activates that part of the immune system in addition to activating the white blood cells of the immune system.

Dr. Sorgente also addressed the types of beta glucan that is out in the market.  There is beta glucan that includes cell walls of yeast.  There is beta glucan from shitake mushrooms.  The bioactivity of these forms of beta glucan is close to zero.  It is the special molecular form of the beta 1,3/1,6D glucan that matches precisely the receptor sites on white blood cells (macrophages and neutrophils).  Agrastim is beta 1,3/1,6D glucan with a bioactivity guaranteed at 80% and in production runs has exceed 90% (I believe 96% has been achieved).

Dr. Sorgente's knowledge and presentation skills has opened many doors for Bioagra and I expect many more to be opened.  It was enlightening and heartening to hear him speak and understand how strong Agrastim is in the immune system and its potential impact in the agricultural industry (and I see it being strongly beneficial to human immune system as that market develops).

In talking to the marketing people, I was and am very impressed with their focus and most importantly their strategy.  There is a very focused strategy in bringing Agrastim to the many companies in the market with primary focus on the greatest potential revenue of poultry (chicken, turkey and duck), bovine (milk and calf), and swine (piglet and bacon).  Chicken, turkey and duck are going very well and bovine is growing with more studies producing data needed.  Now having said their focus is on greatest potential revenue, if there is a company not in the top 15 that wants to try and buy, they are attended to.

Also, Bioagra's marketing people (at least those I met with last week), receive no salary or wage.  They work on commission only.  One marketer is putting his own money on the line in the past year of bringing Agrastim to the market.  And his confidence in realizing strong commissions is very high.

After visiting with him and the others for a number of hours, my confidence is very high in them and in Agrastim achieving significant sales that we, as shareholders, require for our own return on investment.

Long and strong,

Kent
