Oh, Yes!!!!
A quick history...
In 2000 when NPCT fell from $6 5/8 and I felt the world crumbling around me, my immune system was compromised. We do not know where I might have gotten the bug or if it was an ulcerated colon (still could have been viral or bacterial), but one night in July 2000 I began defecating occult blood and had referred pain that resulted in my paralysis of my left leg.
I went to the emergency room that night.
The doctor put me on a tonic of pain killer, muscle relaxers, and nerve killers (Valium). I don't remember much of that month but after a month I began to be able to walk with a cane.
Last August the same symptoms began again. Being familiar with the agony, I waited until I could go to a doctor in his office for a better evaluation. Again, I was put on a coctail of drugs, this time Oxychondon. No Valium thank the Maker!
The pain subsided but I was being monitored by a physician in Virginia and one in Atlanta. A MRI was in the works but then I tried the Beta Glucan and it did the trick for me.
I am not sure if it assisted my immune system or was an anti-inflamatory that my body desperately needed. Beta Glucan also has an anti-inflamatory aspect with its affect on macrophages and other white blood cells.
I have moderated my diet in the past year and try not to eat pizza late at night.
I am still being monitored but so far am doing well. I am considering getting a MRI though at this time, I will have to pay for it. I am curious if there is something going on between L5 and S1.
Acidophylus is important and I know I don't take in enough of it. But it was not a factor in my being able to walk again.
