I'm still in mexico visiting friends at Lake Chapala following a very informative visit to La Yeska.
I just want to take a moment to thank Jim, Karl and Arturo for all their hospitality.
This was a very informative trip. As time permits we will bring everyone up to date on the current status of the La yeska operation.
Prior to the trip I was personally not focusing on the La Yeska project and I was pleasantly surprised to see how close to production they are.
Karl (operations manager) and Arturo (CFO) and their team are currently focused on completing the base for the second ball mill and digging a new tailings pond out of the side of the mountain adjacent to the plant. The new mill is currently in Guadalajara and will be delivered to the plant within a month.
The plant is on the site of an old gold mine and the old tailings are piled within 50 feet of the plant. I hope I have the grades correct....1.8 g/t gold and 180 g/ton silver. These are excellent grades for tailings. As you can see the mining costs for the first 3-4 years will be negligible.
We also visited 2 of the old gold workings which were last mined in 1910. This was the mule ride that Hoov reported on. You would not believe the grade of the mountain we climbed!!!
Only a very minor percentage of the mineralized veins have been excavated. Since 1910 there has been no mining on the property. Once the plant is operating and the tailings are being processed (2-3 months) the management team will beginning planning for future mining. They estimate it will take 4 years to process the tailings at 220 t/day.
Again I want to than Jim, Karl and Arturo for all their hospitality. They went well above and beyond to make our trip a success. Jim has obviously chosen his team to reflect his own character of honesty and ability.
