Torch River Resources has a 25% interest in an advanced molybdenum property, Red Bird. Reserves have been classified by Giroux Consultants Ltd as 88.21 million tonnes indicated and 63.39 million tonnes inferred.
CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Oct. 23, 2007) - Torch River Resources Ltd. ("Torch") (TSX VENTURE:TCR)(FRANKFURT:WNF) is pleased to announce the results of assays on the eighth, ninth and tenth diamond drill holes (DDH) from its 2007 ten diamond drill hole program on the Main Zone Western Extension at its Red Bird property in British Columbia.
The results of assays on these three diamond drill holes (#146, 147 and 148) (DDH) are as follows:
Note: These assays were performed by Pioneer Laboratories in Vancouver, B.C. and involved 30 element ICP analysis results on all samples.
The Red Bird deposit contains molybdenum, copper and rhenium mineralization. Rhenium assays are still pending for our 2007 drill program. As a comparison for the reader of the above results, the Adanac deposit, which is now going into the mine construction phase, has exclusively molybdenum mineralization with its average grade of .054% Mo at a cutoff of .03% Mo for all categories of resource.
It is important to know that these three holes were drilled immediately east of Big Creek from Pad 2007-2 that was located 80 meters in elevation higher, and 220 meters North North East of Pad 2007-1 (the location of DDH 139-145 which have already been reported).
Molybdenite and chalcopyrite mineralization encountered in the Main Zone West Extension is related to a zone of stockwork quartz-carbonate-anhydrite-Kspar veining along a porphyritic quartz monzonite/hornfels andesite contact.
The geology of the Main Zone West Extension is similar to the Main Zone mineralization located about 500 meters to the east. Additional drill hole collars in the vicinity of Pads 2007-1 & 2 are planned for future exploration of the Main Zone West Extension.
It is of interest that most of the best molybdenum values occurred in volcanic hosted rocks (outside the main intrusion) with better than normal copper values. This fact raises the importance of drilling this region in 2008.
Several cross-section diagrams of all the holes drilled on the Main Zone Western Extension in the 2007 program can be viewed at Torch's web site at www.torchriver.ca.
