Thank you for that link Kemo.
I've read numerous articles on this in the last few weeks and whilst he is correct in pointing out that some of the major producers have increased their dividends this last quarter, their payout is still pitiful compared to the amount of cash they're raking in.
Personally I believe that the main reason the gold miners are flat is due to the magnitude of investment in the many ETF's now available. The tonnage of gold that they (theoretically) hold is staggering. The Canadian Mint is now getting into the act by offering their version of an ETF . No doubt this will be very popular, an issue by a Crown Corp. sounds safe. and there are only so many investment dollars to go around. Add to this that the Indians and Chinese prefer the real thing. They can hold it and admire it in many forms, and it is in their tradition to pass this wealth on to their heirs without all the hassle of paper wealth.
I don't see this situation changing anytime soon and I prefer the explorers to the miners as they can explode upwards (or downwards). Getting on board those where the upside outweighs the downside seems to me the best move at this point in time.
All in my opinion of course. Let's hope SLI explodes in the right direction soon.
