Thank You for this clarification Molson, but I do see that you did clearly specify in Your post that the consultation was with the RCMP, and that I misinterpreted it was with the OIC.
i find it very interesting that the RCMP use a statement like; "the information you are entitled to", or something similar. I view it as a degrading statement and also a confirmation that there is more that they are not revealing, which is required for shareholders to secure a proper and foolproof legal case. Not only is it not in the shareholders best interests that the RCMP are withholding pertinent information, but also, it is not in the publics best interest, which fully contradicts any RCMP position that they are there to protect the public.
Many RCMP young recruits have their expectations of career changed upon entering the force and witnessing how it really works. The recent payout by the RCMP of ~$100 million, which was tax payers dollars, is just one revealing of things really work within the force.
Having said the above, there are good RCMP officers that are well aware of how the system operates, and are there on their own accord, to assure record get set straight.
