Rick, I too have followed Barrick over the years and can attest to their unusual ways of doing business. More importantly for me is the man behind the company, Peter Munk. Munk really got his start in the Market when he listed his soon to fail Clairtone fiasco on the TSX in 1963. In the end, my province lost $25 million on the ill-fated venture, yet Munk and his gang walked away with their pockets full!
What is really funny with the Clairtone fiasco is how the wonderboy Brian was involved and how he was able to parlay that to success in politics, then being handed brown paper bags of money by Karlheinz and eventually on to the BOD of Barrick.
We all know that the BCSC is corrupt, but so is the ASC, the very regulator who oversaw Bre-X!
Rick, it is all connected, but sadly we little guys are screwed and in reality, my present reality, I have given up in believing that any justice will become of it.
