I just checked out Stockhouse and saw a discussion between several posters as to why Lori would have renewed the Peruvian leases even if she felt they were of no value. One posters reasoning for her renewing them is:

"If they lose their listing and they have no properties left they will have to do a qualifying transaction to get re-listed."

Just to clarify, according to B.C. Online Titles, St. Elias has several properties that are in good standing up to June of 2016. So the theory of paying for the Peruvian claims just to avoid listing/relisting issues holds no validity.
