Since 1997, Nazca has been the location of a major Canadian gold mining operation, about which nobody knows anything. The people who were living on the land for the previous 2000 years did not have title to the land, so they were displaced without legal problems.

"Also in Peru, three informal gold processing plants have been set up in the "untouchable zone" of the Nasca and Palpa lines, putting the pre-Inca legacy at risk: the protected zone of Nasca is 460 square kilometers and was declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1994."
