A PIMA machine was used in the field at Vilcoro a couple of years to deternine the different clay assembalages associated with that type of mineralizion and mineraized setting occuring at Vilcoro.
A PIMA machine is different from an XRF machine.
At Tesoro – a XRF machine was considered in order to tell anomalous (but not quantified as to PPM’s, PPB;s or g/t) just anomalous within the specific data set. It was decided not to be used as it is best for base metals (lead zinc, silver and copper). The team have used and continue to use XRF machines on different IGD and SLI projects,. BUT. when it comes to gold – the XRF machine is not accurate at all. A regular stainless steel kitchen spoon that the team tested showed over 10g./t gold.
XRF was not a technology that was useful for us at Tesoro."
