Lima, Feb. 11 (ANDINA). The National Confederation of Private Business Associations (Confiep) reported on Saturday it agrees with the “new mining” policy boosted by the Peruvian government on the environment and social development, and trusts that it will generate confidence among investors.
The president of Confiep, Alfonso Garcia, noted that although most of the formal mining companies meet with the environmental requirements of the government it is good and beneficial to improve some aspects in order to have more confidence in new mining projects.
Moreover, Garcia stated that the setting of this “new mining” policy, which focuses on environmental and social issues, will provide a better climate to develop investments in said sector as well as to reduce social problems.
“I’m sure that all of these industries will be more comfortable as neighboring towns will realize that mining is not harmful, but generates benefits and development,” he said in statements to Andina.
