Stewie, I think this is a reasonable theory, and also consider this:

- two directors resign. They are geos. Probably some conflict. Why? Perhaps because Lori is NOT following the Quantec plan for the recommended targets. Geos get mad, yelling and screaming ensues, and they are out the door, not understanding why Lori is not following the plan, but her plan is....to drive the sp down. Two new directors join the next day. They are granted 92 cent options (perhaps as a "condition" of employment!) after the sp has tanked. New directors are happy with their cheap options. Good news follows shortly thereafter, sp pops, new directors very happy now!
