Here's some more positive Peru Mining News, to bring everyone's Xmas spirits up, and drown out the Nationalizing talk (although, I did hear that as well, I'm not sure I'm buying it, but it did make me hit rewind on my PVR & listen twice! 2nd time was just as disturbing)

  • Lima, Dec. 23 (ANDINA). The United Kingdom will be the second country with more investments in the country by year-end -especially from the mining sector- by an amount exceeding 4.37 billion dollars, on Friday noted British ambassador to Peru James Dauris.

The ambassador assured that British investments will continue increasing in the next years. “The projections are good and I know that Peru is waiting to receive a significant amount of new investments,” he said.

Moreover, Ambassador Dauris said that social conflicts like the one in Cajamarca against Conga mining project will not scare away British investments in said sector.

“Like I have said, British companies which I have talked to still see important opportunities in the country. Besides, everyone agrees that it is vital to make a balance between mining and water, just like Peruvian President Ollanta Humala have said,” noted Dauris.

The main Peruvian exports to the United Kingdom are mining products such as tin, gold, silver and zinc as well as fishery and agricultural products like fruits and vegetables.
