Last Feb. when we got the updated 3D data I did some calculations to estimate the volume and potential gold content of the ZC anomaly.
Because of its irregular shape, using the formula of a half sphere is to coarse of a volume estimate and I am of the opinion that it is more accurate to look at the actual shape of the anomaly and then calculate its volume.
Below are the steps I took to provide a more reasonable measure of its volume:
1. The ZC anomaly shape was traced and broken down into incremental layers at estimated depth divisions.
2. Each layer was gridded and the volume was then calculated using the extended trapezoidal rule.
3. The layered volumes were summed to give a total volume of 4,660,411,803 m3.
4. Using a specific volume of 2.5m3/ton of rock, we get 11,651,029,505 tons.
The Math:
4,660,411,802m3 X 2.5 ton/m3 X 5g/ton (assuming a higher grade within the anomaly) X 1 Oz/31.1g
= 1,877 Million OZ
Although Bubba's assumption of 1oz/t of gold throughout the anomaly is a bit rich, I think he maybe under-estimating the volume earth at Tesoro.
