Perhaps - I know some larger investment companies have 'automatic sell thresholds' (I'm not sure of the term they use). The idea is if a stock loses a certain percentage of it's value in a day it triggers an automatic sell of a certain percentage of their holdings in that stock. I've a common threshold is 10%.
