Tesoro could possibly be the biggest open pit operation in the World

As noted in my previous post BHP is in the process of developing the worlds largest open pit mine. It will eventually span 4.1 km long, 3.5 km wide and 1 km deep. Comparatively, the Barrick/Neumont operated Super Pit gold mine in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia will eventually stretch 3.8 km long, 1.5 km wide and 600 m deep.

To compare ,our ONE ANNOMOLY, thats ONE annomoly is 1.8 km long, 1.7 km wide and 1300 m deep and open to depth. Add in all the other annomolies and who knows what size we end up with.
