Well, today is the official day for the new government (July 28, 2011 - 2016)

Hopefully, they all stick fairly close to their word, and hopefully the Peruvian people all do better in the long run.

Ollanta Humala to be sworn in as Peruvian president today

  • Lima, Jul. 28 (ANDINA). Ollanta Humala will be sworn in as the new President of the Republic of Peru for the 2011-2016 period in a ceremony to take place at the Congress and that will be attended by more than 15 heads of State and Government as well as Prince of Asturias, Felipe de Borbon.

    According to the official agenda, Ollanta Humala will take the oath of office at 10.30 hours (15.30 GMT) in the Congress after putting on the presidential sash.

    As new president, the head of State will swear in Peru’s first Vice-President Marisol Espinoza Cruz and second Vice-President Omar Chehade Moya, and deliver his one-hour inaugural address at 10.45 hours.

    Then, at 12.00, the president is to head to the Government Palace, where he will swear in the new members of the Council of Ministers.

    Later at 13.30, President Humala will be greeted by the heads of State and Government participating in the inauguration ceremony, and then is to offer an official luncheon to his illustrious visitors.
