I dont know, but on about 25k of those trades, they were marked with a w, which means;

Then after that jitney came in and scooped up a few more before the close. This may have been a shorting buying back shares for the broker they had them borrowed from, and bought extra for a long position. It looks like approx 25k was short covering and the 38k may have been a long position taken up out of that 63k buy.
Iam not sure on this, it would require some more digging and I dont have time right now, and may never find the answer anyway.
Hog, like you said, if this is short covering, maybe they got wind of something coming and covered quickly.
