I agree Kherson with your statement "But, I think you under estimate the significance of possible changes to the Capital Gains Tax that may occur tomorrow. Even if the Federal Government just changes our Capital Gains Tax to be more in-line with the US rates, it will be beneficial to business and also to us investors..."
The spinoff effect of what this could have on the economy down the road is important. You have a country, Canada, which really is in good economic shape and something like this can only strengthen our economy. It will allow for more money to be pumped back into the economy on a small scale first, but its the impact it could have 10 years down the road where the effects will be easily seen. It has/should be initiated now, to let it grow. This gives extra borrowing power to our population and could be considered a growth stimuli. The ripple effect would probably describe better, what I am trying to say.
Just imagine the little effect we SLI shareholders could have on our communities, if we become rich. This is only one small example, but put millions of these small examples together, and you have something that can be recognized as a factor.
I know that IF I become rich, I would probably support my community by helping out some young people here with maybe loans to start their own businesses. I wouldn,t enjoy anything more than watching a young person growing and succeeding in todays world that I helped.
Hopefully SLI will give each one of us that opportunity.
