Message: Federal Budget: Possible Elimination of Capital Gains Tax...

Hi ismore,

Capital Gains exemption does seem like a dream, and we will probably not get it. The federal budget comes out this week ,I beleive tuesday, and we will see if its mentioned.

They did give us the TFSA, so, you never know.

Also, for fishermen there has been a $750,000 lifetime capital gains exemption that came out a few years ago. Even an exemption of up to a million,(capped) would be great. If we dont get something this year though, I dont think it will be swept under the rug. The government still has the baby boomer thing to deal with.

Heres a paragraph from the article link posted below:

No matter what the Boomers do, their pull on the stock market may already be waning. The Boomers, after all, had children, too: the so-called Generation Y, those born in 1983 through 2001. At 79.9 million, they're a bigger generation than the Boomers, and they have even greater incentive to save: They are far less likely than their parents to have a pension and may well see a much longer wait before they're eligible for Social Security. They, too, will need to invest in the stock market.
