The Peruvian presidential election will by April 10, 2011.
A January 2011 poll shows Keiko Fujimori and Alejandro Toledo leading. Keiko Fujimori is the daughter of former president Alberto Fujimori. Alejandro Toledo is a former president of Peru. He has been critical recently of Venezuela's foreign policy. Peru has a reputation for being pro-mining and pro foreign investment for years, part of his legacy.

If all goes well the elections will have no effect on SLI. The new president will not be sworn in until July. As we've already noted government and swift don't seem to go together. We can all hope that SLI would be sold before any negative changes could take effect even if a less favorable candidate took office.
