On the weekend I watched a program on Oasis HD about Peru and let me tell you, what I saw scared me. If the governement is as bad a shape as the rest of the rural country side we are in for quite a ride. I can fully inderstand why it has taken a full year to get a drilling permit. I am not happy about it, but when you actually realize that we are dealing with pretty much a third world country, delays are to be expected.
My question for the board is, What is the extent to which we need to interact with the Peruvian Goverment after we have the drilling permits? If is not much at all that would be a great thing. If we have to interact with them further then we could be in for a very long ride. As far as I understand it in Canada applying for a drilling permit properly would take about 5 months to get approval, oil and gas pilot applications 12-18 months, drilling much sooner. Anyone who can shed light on other timelines for drilling in other sectors of the mining and oil and gas industry please do. Murray used the analogy of "waiting for this permit is like watching paint dry" how about "waiting for this permit is like waiting for your anniversary to come so a guy can get some". Happens only once a year!!! (Disclaimer: this is not my case, but some of my buddies are in this position and I am really starting to be sympathetic to their cause"!!! This is truly a test in patience!!!
